Access to and use of The Daguerreian Society image files and data is subject to the following terms and conditions:

All digital files and associated text (unless otherwise noted) are the property of The Daguerreian Society or the lending individual/institution and are made available for non-commercial, personal use only. The Daguerreian Society or the lending individual/institution specifically retains any rights, including possible copyright, which it may have in data, files, and/or the images, text, and multimedia they contain.

Copying or redistribution in any manner for personal or corporate gain is not permitted. Any public or commercial use of these materials without prior written permission is a violation of federal copyright law and may also violate the rights of third parties.

Users may download these files for their own use, subject to any additional terms or restrictions which may be provided with the individual file or program. These electronic image files, documentation, and software materials may be covered by additional restrictions and/or copyright.

Q. May I print some of these out for my report, or use them in my classroom?

A. Assuming this is a non-commercial academic work, yes. This type of use is encouraged.

Q. May I put these on a CD-ROM, public domain or otherwise?

A. No.

Q. How do I obtain permission to use the files herein provided in a publication, commercially, on a CD-ROM, BBS, etc.?

A. Anyone wishing to use any the files or images herein provided for commercial use or publication must first request and receive prior permission by contacting The Daguerreian Society. Permission for such use is granted on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of The Daguerreian Society or the lending individual/institution. A usage fee may be involved depending on the type and nature of the proposed use.
