On this day (November 15) in the year 1854, the following advertisement
appeared in the "Evening Journal" (San Francisco):

            Daguerreotype Rooms!!
HAVE REMOVED TO THE FIRE-PROOF BUILDING
No. 166 CLAY STREET, a few doors above Mont-
gomery street, north side, opposite Dr. Rabe's Building.
MR. SHEW has the satisfaction of announcing that he
has fitted up a splendid suit of rooms for taking Photo-
graphic Pictures, either upon glass, paper or metal plates.
Persons who feel interested in the Photographic Art, are
invited to call and examine a collection of Daguerreotypes
taken upon paper and glass, which embraces some of the
most interested scenery in history, and possess a brillian-
cy of tone and distinctness of outline which surpass any-
thing heretofore produced on the Pacific Coast.
Mr. S. also announces that he has reduced his prices to
less than one half his former rates, and is now prepared to
take as good pictures for $2 as can be obtained at any
other establishment for double that price. Persons who
have had poor pictures taken elsewhere, can have them ta-
ken over for a trifling expense.
Please remember the number, 166 Clay street. North

call before purchasing elsewhere.
