Skull; 5 x 7" plate

On paper, one makes daguerreotypes as simply as bread. Both are "back to basics" processes. With bread, flour is mixed with salt and yeast and water, then baked in an oven until it is done. Daguerreotypes are made by exposing a polished silver plate to iodine and bromine, taking the picture, developing it over hot mercury, and fixing the image when it is done.
